Alaska Fishing Lodge - Review of Big Eddy's Resort

So you want to plan an Alaska Fishing Lodge vacation. Well if you ever plan on going fishing in Alaska one of those places you absolutely must check out is the Kenai River. The scenery alone will blow you away but alongside the out of this world scenery you're going to love the opportunity to catch all sorts of different kinds fish. There are some pretty great fishing lodges to choose from so you won't have a hard time finding someplace decent to set down your roots when you get there.

The fishing lodges in Alaska are very well used to outsiders coming from all over the world for the chance to do some exotic fishing, one of my favorites has got to be RW's Fishing at the Big Eddy Resort. They are located in Soldotna, Alaska so write that down as a must go to spot on your agenda.

You know ever person has a fishing story to tell when they get home, usually it goes something like this "You're not gonna believe what I had on my line!! I swear to God it was at least 300 pounds and it got away!". Well the beauty about Fishing in Alaska is that the opportunity to tell a story like this and end it a little differently exists, not only does it exist but people catch monstrous fish pretty much all year round. Get use to having a little healthy competition when you see your neighbor reeling in some nice and hefty salmon.

During May you'll likely find that the Kenai River is well stocked with Red Salmon as well as King and Silver. You're probably thinking right now, "Hey isn't that the same river that the world champion caught that 100 lb. king?" well if that's what you were thinking, then YUP.. your right. You're gonna have to fight to bring home the catch of the day these guys aren't gonna make it easy for you the average weight of Kings in the Kenai River is about 60 pounds. That's SIXTY POUNDS. How does your Alaska Fishing Lodge vacation sound now? Pretty nice right!? Just what the good doctor ordered.

You're gonna have your pick of fresh water or saltwater fishing, if you're into saltwater fishing then just go down to the Kenai Peninsula and have your fill. There's plenty of Halibut down there. Just in case you have an off day, which I doubt you will, but just in case there is always the chance to take a relaxing raft trip straight down the wilderness float on the Kasilof River. Guaranteed to be a ride you'll remember and only a few miles from Big Eddy's Resort.

Finding your way to Big Eddy's isn't that hard it's about 30 minutes from Anchorage and you can easily drive or fly straight  on over to the lodge, the scenery is amazing and you'll have plenty of opportunity to snap some mind blowing photographs on your way over.

The lodge itself is really nice, you get your pick of one of two bedroom lodges that come fully equipped so you don't necessarily have to leave the luxuries of the "real world" behind. By fully equipped I truly mean fully equipped. Your lodge comes fully stocked with all the fishing gear you'll need to fully enjoy your Alaska Fishing Lodge vacation the way that it was meant to be at Big Eddy's Resort.
